Pro-Palestinian protest takes place at RTÉ studios with further protests planned

Pro-Palestinian demonstrators entered both a BBC facility in Belfast and the RTÉ campus in Dublin earlier today, reports RTE.

At approximately 12.30pm, a small number of protesters entered the main reception area at RTÉ’s Donnybrook headquarters.

Gardaí responded to the incident, and the group departed from the RTÉ premises about an hour later, reports RTE.

The demonstrators expressed dissatisfaction with media coverage of the conflict between Israel and Gaza.

Earlier in the day, a BBC site located in central Belfast went into a brief lockdown after protesters entered the building, reports RTE.

Carrying Palestinian flags and chanting slogans, the group accessed a studio on Great Victoria Street around 11am.

Police officers were dispatched to the location and escorted the group out of the premises, reports RTE.

A BBC spokesperson said: “We take the safety and security of BBC staff and buildings extremely seriously.

“Unauthorised access is wrong and can create risks for everyone involved,” reports RTE.
