Professor Luke O’Neill has said that Ireland may have to bear with up to 2 months of lockdown restrictions.
If O’Neill is correct, it would mean that Ireland would face Level 5 lockdown restrictions until the end of February.
Speaking to Claire Byrne, O’Neill said that the possibility of the newly released vaccine could see an end to lockdowns but that Ireland will have to bear with them for now at least.
Speculation is that so-called wet pubs mightn’t be able to reopen until the end March at least with restaurants and gastro-pubs possibly staying closed until the end of February.
As it stands, Ireland is going back into major restrictions from St. Stephen’s Day.
