Professor Luke O’Neill has said that he believes that an effective Covid-19 vaccine will come eventually but warns that social distancing will continue for a while to come.
Speaking on RTE’s Prime Time programme, the immunologist said that he fully believes that an effective vaccine to combat the virus will come.
However despite being optimistic about a potential vaccine The Trinity College professor warned that social distancing will have to continue for sometime yet.
O’Neill told the programme that there are currently 8 vaccines out in front in the running that will make a big difference in terms of how we fight disease.
He added that in terms of restrictions being lifted it will rely on the effectiveness of the vaccine.
