Professor Philip Nolan has revealed that Ireland reproductive rate currently stands at 1.2, but has warned that cases have remains too high.
Speaking at the National Public Health Emergency Team briefing, professor Nolan said that the number of cases being reported each day is too high.
Nolan also said that the pattern of cases has changed from large outbreaks in specific settings to smaller outbreaks widely distributed across the country.
He added that the latest measures introduced by NPHET aim to surpress community transmission over the next three weeks.
