New Zealand’s most prominent Imam has said that he believes that the, the Mossad, were behind the Christchurch terror attack that killed 50 people at two different mosques.
Mossad is Israel foreign intelligence service known for its role in carrying out assassinations and infiltrating terrorist organisations. Its motto is “By way of deception thou shalt do war”.
Brenton Tarrant attacked the Al Noor mosque and Linwood Islamic Centre using legally purchased semi-automatic weapons.
However, Ahmed Bhamji who heads the Mt Roskill Masjid Mosque in Auckland, the largest in the country said at the ‘Love New Zealand, hate racism rally’ this weekend that Mossad were behind the attack and that Tarrant was being funded by “Zionist business”.
The Israeli embassy in Wellington condemned the remarks calling them “absurd”.
In his 77-page manifesto he out online prior to the attack, Tarrant specifically states that he is not a “Mossad agent”.
However, conspiracy theories have been stoked by the fact that he had visited Israel in the months before the attack and due to the as yet unclear source of his funding during his world travels and two-year planning of the attack.
