A radio guest who was homeless as a child was mocked by two radio hosts on a show in Honolulu.
According to the Metro, singer Paula Fuga, spoke about how she was homeless as a child and forced to eat rubbish that had been left behind by other people.
The two hosts of the show, Kreyz Oshiro and Vic Harris, made insensitive comments after she spoke. Once made a joke of it, asking her if she “ate right out of the trash can, or do you put it on a plate first.”
When Fuga explained that she had eaten food from garbage cans, and got upset, asking if she could get a box of tissues, one of the DJs instead said “No, but we’ve got a trash can right over there by the bar,” and the other said “What, just in case she’s hungry?”
After this astonishing comment, Fuga appeared to be shocked and said “I don’t eat from a trash can anymore.”
Understandably, social media users were furious and the two hosts were sacked from the show. They tried to apologise to Fuga online afterwards.
