Members of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation took to the streets this afternoon outside St Vincent’s University Hospital in protest to highlight the problem of overcrowding there.
Emergency department nurses at the hospital voted last week for industrial action and a work-to-rule will begin tomorrow.
St Vincent’s has said it will have emergency contingency plans in place to minimise any disruption and to ensure patient safety is not compromised.
Separately, the Emergency Department Task Force will meet today following investigations of emergency departments around the country by Director General of the HSE Tony O’Brien who took over as chairperson of the Task Force at the start of this month.
