Protesters gather outside paedophile’s home in Tipperary as he says he wants to be ‘left alone’

Paedophile says he ‘just wants to be left alone’ – as protesters gather outside his new home, reports The Mirror.

John Carvin, 53, who sexually abused his brother’s stepdaughter when she was just seven, was moved to a house in Tipperary this week.

Carvin, who had previously avoided prison for serious crimes, was transferred there from Borris in the Ossory area after residents protested outside the local council earlier this week.

But on Friday, when locals learned of his presence, angry neighbours staged a protest. The Irish Mirror visited Carvin’s house – but he refused to come to her door, cowering in the kitchen.

The woman, who identified herself as Kervin’s wife, answered the door and said he was “scared” and spoke of her own horror at a local protest.

“He’s scared. He has a heart problem and I don’t want him dying on me. They’re after frightening the sh**e out of me,” she said of the locals protesting, reports The Mirror.

After going inside and asking her husband if he would like to talk to The Mirror, she came back and said, “No. He just wants to be left alone.” Speaking to the Irish Mirror several locals expressed their disgust that Carvin was living in the area,

“We don’t want him here. We have children and we don’t want him anywhere near them,” one man said. “He was out walking with his dogs in the park and near the local crèche yesterday. It’s making everyone uncomfortable,” another said, reports The Mirror.

Carvin was tried and convicted in 2014 of two counts of sexual assault between October 2000 and February 2001, but was found guilty of only one.
