Almost 500 patients are left languishing on trolleys around the country

New figures from the Irish midwives and nurses organization (INMO) show that 497 patients are waiting for beds in Irish hospitals, reports Breaking News.

There are 362 patients waiting in the emergency department and 135 in other departments of the hospital.

INMO’s trolley clock shows that the hospital with the most bed waiting is Limerick University Hospital with 98 bed waiting.

Of these, 46 patients are in the emergency department, reports Breaking News.

37 patients waiting for beds at Cork University Hospital, 36 patients in wheelchairs at University Hospital Galway

INMO Trolley Watch counts patients who have been admitted to an acute hospital but are waiting for a free bed.

These patients are often treated in wheelchairs in the corridors, “but they may also be on chairs, in waiting rooms, or simply wherever there’s space,” reports Breaking News.

INMO founded Trolley Watch in 2004.
