Protesters in Cork demand a minute’s silence from Leo Varadkar for two homeless people who died on the streets

Protesters made their voices heard loud and clear last evening in Cork when a Fine Gael public meeting was taking place.

The meeting was suspended just as Leo Varadkar was going to speak. A group from the Connolly Youth Movement held a protest just as Varadkar was going to speak.

Both Varadkar and Simon Coveney were attending the town hall meeting which was focused on the plebiscite for a directly-elected mayor in Cork.

They demanded a minute’s silence from Varadkar for two homeless people who died on the streets while sleeping rough in Cork.

They also spoke about climate change and austerity policies.
