Investigators are looking into six claims of Friday night break-ins in Newry, reports Breaking News.

In one of the incidences, individuals in masks with crowbars broke into a residence and made threats against the resident.

The events all happened between 7.30 and 10.30 p.m.

Around 9.10 p.m., the PSNI was initially notified of a report stating that three males wearing masks and carrying crowbars broke into a home in the Kennard Villas neighbourhood, threatened the resident, and took three purses.

Officers in the Kennard Villas neighbourhood saw damage to a door while they were making enquiries, reports Breaking News.

Investigations are underway to determine whether anything was stolen from the abandoned residence.

Then, soon after 9.20 p.m., police got a complaint that up to six masked males had used a sledgehammer to break through a front window of a residence in the Carnagat Park neighbourhood.

The driver pursued them and drove off in a dark-coloured Volkswagen Golf, reports Breaking News.

A complaint of a break-in at a Beechmount Park home was received shortly after 9.30 p.m., with cash and valuables reported taken. It is thought that between 8 and 9:10 p.m., someone broke into the residence.

Shortly after, there was another complaint that three masked guys with screwdrivers forced their way past a resident of a residence near Patrick Street and took off with a phone and some cash.

An hour later, at 10.25 p.m., a sixth report of a home invasion in the Carnagat Park neighbourhood was made. The incident was said to have happened somewhere between 7.30 and 10.15 p.m, reports Breaking News.
