There have been renewed calls from publicans to be allowed to open their establishments on Good Friday, as according to them, there’s a “clear consumer demand.”
Thus, the Licensed Vintners Association and the Vintners Federation of Ireland are calling on the government to put an end to the traditional Good Friday ban on alcohol sales and pub openings, claiming that the law is archaic and out of date.
The calls come ahead of the expected surge in tourism business due to the 1916 celebrations in Dublin and elsewhere.
