Public advised to conserve water as Irish Water say there has been an increase in demand

Irish Water have advised the public to conserve water when they can as there has been a 20% increase in demand since February.

In a statement today the utility said that water treatment plants are operating at capacity and they are urging the public not to waste water supplies.

Amongst the guidelines for conserving water supplies Irish water are advising the public to take showers instead of baths, stop using power washers and use a watering can instead of a hose whilst gardening.

They are also advising people to fix any dropping taps or any potential leaks around their home.

Irish Water say the increase in demand is a result of the Covid-19 outbreak as many people are now spending more time at home.
