Simon Harris said to be considering a ban on outdoor smoking areas in pubs and restaurants

The caretaker health Minister Simon Harris may soon ban smoking in outdoor areas of pubs and restaurants.

Enjoying a smoke with a pint may no longer be permissible as the minister gives serious consideration on a call to make outdoor areas in pubs/restaurants completely smoke free once they reopen.

The recommendation has come from the policy group on tobacco at the royal college of physicians Ireland and it’s a further blow to smokers.

According to the Irish Times, Professor Cox from the group stated that “If outdoor areas are to be used to facilitate social distancing,we will see non smokers cohabiting this area with smokers” further adding that “We all know that second-hand smoke is not good for anyone, and there’s no safe levels of second-hand smoke that we can accept”.

As Mark Twain said:
“If smoking is not allowed in heaven I shall not go”.
