In addition to releasing fresh photos of the missing schoolboy Kyran Durnin, the GardaĆ have said that the public has shown a great deal of support for their investigation into his murder and abduction, reports RTE.

But gardaĆ have also stated that they have not been able to find Kyran, who would now be eight years old, despite their thorough and continuous searches.

According to GardaĆ, the investigative team has been given fresh photos of Kyran, taken in June 2022 when he was six years old, as part of their ongoing enquiries, reports RTE.

Three homes—two in Drogheda and one in Dundalk—have been searched, and two individuals—a man and a woman—have been taken into custody on suspicion of the schoolboy’s murder thus far.

This man was discovered dead at his Drogheda home on Tuesday after being detained as part of the inquiry last week and interrogated by gardaĆ before being freed without being charged.

Locally, he was identified as Anthony Maguire, 36, reports RTE.

Last week, gardaĆ conducted what they called a “intrusive” search of Mr. Maguire’s home and the garden that was adjacent.

Kyran was last seen with certainty in May 2022. At the end of August this year, he was reported missing, reports RTE.

After failing to find any evidence that suggested Kyran was still alive, the gardaĆ opened a murder inquiry in October. Investigators believe he may have passed away as recently as two years ago.

In a statement, gardaĆ said: “The investigation team, led by a Senior Investigation Officer (SIO) based out of an incident room established at Drogheda Garda Station continue to appeal to the public for any information in connection the disappearance of Kyran. An Garda SĆochĆ”na is aware of the extensive public commentary on this investigation including speculation, rumours and theories on what may have happened to Kyran,” reports RTE.

“An Garda SĆochĆ”na continues to appeal to the public, notwithstanding all the information that is in the public domain, to not assume that the investigation team know the information that you may have. Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, will be welcomed by the investigation team. This information will be treated in the strictest confidence,” the statement added, reports RTE.
