Public demand action after the first confirmed case of coronavirus is detected in the Republic of Ireland




The public are demanding action is taken after the first case case of coronavirus gets confirmed in the Republic of Ireland late on Saturday night.

In an announcement, the Health Protection Surveillance Centre confirmed that a man who resides in the eastern half of the country has been diagnosed with the illness.

It’s not yet known what the condition of the man but it’s understood this morning that he’s being treated in an isolation unit in hospital.

It’s believed the man recently returned to Ireland from Northern Italy in recent days and that authorities are working to determine who has been in contact with over the past number of days.

The Health Protection Surveillance centre say that they are carrying out procedures in line with established protocols.

Social media users have been demanding that flights are cancelled from affected areas and ports closed.
