Public Sector to be looked after as Varadkar says new employment legislation may be needed so people aren’t put off self-isolation if they get coronavirus

The caretaker Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said that the Dail may need to pass employment legislation to ensure people who think they have coronavirus self-isolate instead of going into work.

Varadkar also said that more money would be made available for the Health Service.

RTE reports that Public sector workers would be given full regular pay but no benefits such as overtime rate.

The move comes after several more cases were confirmed across Ireland on Thursday with fears that there could be a major widespread outbreak.
