The Department of Social Protection has issued a warning about bogus phone calls seeking personal details.
It is understood that several people have reported receiving calls from numbers that appear to be genuine, including 1890 800 024, the department’s helpline.
The caller then asks for sensitive information, including PPS numbers and banking details.
People are advised to contact Gardai if they receive these calls.
