Deputy CMO says decision to restrict AstraZeneca vaccine to over 60s shouldn’t have a significant impact on roll-out plan

The Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn has said that the decision to restrict the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine to the over 60s shouldn’t have an impact on the roll-out plan.

Speaking on RTE’s Claire Byrne Live, the Deputy CMO said that he is hoping that the new advice won’t be unduly disruptive.

Glynn also told the programme that the changes shouldn’t necessarily be delay the roll-out and he hopes it wouldn’t have an impact on the easing of restrictions.

The Deputy Chief Medical Officer said that the vaccine is a pivotal part of our overall vaccination programme and urged those in this age group to take the vaccine if they are offered it.
