Public urged to be on alert to Covid-19 vaccine text scam

The public have been warned to be alert as a phishing scam is doing the rounds.

In an  announcement the HSE have urged the public to be careful after they were alerted to the scam which asks for debit or credit card details.

It is understood the warning comes after a number of people have received a Covid-19 vaccine appointment text message which contains a link to book your appointment.

However the fraudulent text also asks the recipient for their debit/credit card details.

The HSE say anyone who has received a text should ignore it and contact their local Gardai.

They also say the HSE would never request personal information such as banking or credit card details whilst arranging a Covid-19 vaccine appointment.
