Pubs will remain shut on Good Friday for this year at least

Minister for Tourism Paschal Donohoe has today rejected the suggestion of allowing pubs to open on Good Friday.

Some tourism and sports groups have lobbied for a change in the law, and Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald has previously said that she will look into the issue, but not this year.

Minister Donohoe meanwhile has said that the currently standing licensing laws should not be amended.
