PUP recipients will have to pay all outstanding income tax if they return to work this year

People receiving the Pandemic Unemployment Payment (PUP) will have to pay all outstanding income tax if they return to employment this year, it has emerged today.

In 2020, people receiving the payment were told that they could spread any outstanding tax bill over four years.

However, the situation now appears to have changed, so people might be hit with a full bill if/when they return to work in 2021.
