Qatar retains its right to host the 2022 World Cup, despite widespread allegations of bribery

Qatar appears to still be on course to host the 2022 World Cup, despite widespread allegations of bribery.

It is alleged that two former members of FIFA’s executive committee (Nicolas Leoz and Ricardo Teixeira) accepted ‘incentives’ to vote in favor of Qatar’s bid. Leoz has since passed away.

Qatar’s World Cup organising committee has strenuously denied any such claims, and the country is still likely to host the tournament, despite threats of legal action.
