Questions raised as to whether President Higgins will take Ukrainian refugees into the Aras

Social media users have been questioning whether some of the expected 20,000 Ukrainian refugees will be invited to stay with President Higgins in the palatial residence that is Aras an Uachtaráin.

President Higgins has been struck down with covid, alongside his wife Sabina so it’s unlikely that they’ll be able to take anyone in for the next week or so, but after that there should be plenty of room in the Aras for families to stay who require accommodation.

Higgins hasn’t confirmed or denied whether he’ll take refugees from the Ukraine to stay with him in the Aras, but it’s understood he owns a number of properties where perhaps they could stay otherwise.
