Radio Silence: Dublin Bus introduce new policy preventing drivers from listening to the radio whilst driving

Dublin Bus have revealed that new rules preventing Dublin Bus drivers from listening to the radio whilst driving, will come into effect on Monday.

Under the new rules bus drivers will be severely disciplined if they are caught using electronic devices whilst driving.
The newly enforced ruling has been met with strong opposition from Dublin Bus drivers. The ‘Zero Tolerance’ ruling has prompted the National Bus and Rail Union (NBRU) to write a letter to Dublin Bus, stating that they “totally and utterly” refuses to accept transistor radios being placed on a banned list.

The union also say they will respond to the unacceptable implementation of the new rules by advising its drivers not to use the two-way radio system installed on the buses except in dire emergency situations. The union have said they will be referring the matter to the Workplace Relations Commission with a request that Dublin Bus defer from implementing the radio ban.
