The national forecaster has issued a warning, saying that rainfall today is likely to exacerbate flooding risks as snow begins to melt nationwide.
Temperatures are expected to rise from Monday onwards, leading to a countrywide thaw. Such influx of water has the potential to cause localised flooding, however.
The working week is forecast to begin bright and dry, with temperatures reaching 8C in places.
Motorists are advised to proceed with caution as snow turns to slush on the roads, creating hazardous conditions.
