The National Public Health Emergency Team havd said that there is a real cause for concern as the R number is now thought to be at 1.8.
Speaking this Dr Philip Nolan said that the team are becoming concerned at the rise in cases over the past week.
Although the rate of community transmission is currently low, Dr Nolan said that community transmission could becom a cause for concern in the coming weeks ahead.
The news comes as a further 69 cases and 5 Covid-19 related deaths were reported on Thursday.
