Remains of missing Limerick man discovered in the river Shannon

The remains of a man Limerick have been found in the River Shannon this afternoon.

Gardai sat the remains is that of missing man Nicky Lyons, who has been missing since Tuesday.
Gardai also say they a fishing rod, a pen knife and a bicycle belonging to Mr Lyons were recovered near O’Dywer Bridge in the city where it is believed he had entered the water. It is understood that a crew from the Limerick Marine Search and Rescue Service (LMSRS) were called to the scene and recovered  the body at approximately 11.30am this morning. It is believed that the body of Mr Lyons was spotted floating on a river bed by two fishermen, who quickly alerted the emergency services.

Mr Lyons remains were then  transported to the city morgue at University Hospital Limerick. Where a post mortem is expected to take place to try to determine the cause of death.
