Nurses across several medical facilities have served notice of industrial action due to the HSE’s inaction in relation to chronic overcrowding.

With levels of overcrowding worsening on a daily basis, nurses will initiate 2-hour work stoppages next Thursday.

Talks aimed at averting the industrial action will get underway today, but the HSE’s ongoing inability or unwillingness to make the necessary changes will be firmly in union’s minds.

There have been some high profile cases of elderly patients waiting up to 95 hours on a trolley or a chair, waiting to be admitted.
