There was some sad news announced earlier today as Irish poet John Montague sadly passed away at the age of 87.
It is understood the renowned poet died in Nice France, but it is expected his remains will be brought from to Tyrone where he will be laid to rest.
Leading the tributes President Michael D Higgins described Montague’s work as “immense”, and said his death was “another great loss to Irish letters”.
Meanwhile the Arts Council have said his loss will be felt acutely but his outstanding work will continue to inspire both readers and writers for generations to come.
