One of the leading campaigners in repealing the Eighth Amendment, Noel Whelan has died aged 50.
Arguably Whelan was one of the main reasons why abortion is legal in Ireland today.
He was also a leading figure in the gay marriage referendum in May 2015.
It’s understood that he died following a short illness and is survived by his wife and son.
