Scottish National Party leader Nicola Sturgeon has said UK PM Boris Johnson will be standing in the way of democracy if he denies Scotland a second independence referendum.

In response Prime Minister Johnson has invited Scottish National Party leader Nicola Sturgeon for crisis talks in Downing Street after her party fell just one seat short of an overall majority in the Scottish parliament elections, securing 64 seats in the recent elections.

With 64 seats in the Sturgeon still has a pro-independence majority and is determined to organise a rerun of the 2014 independence referendum which saw separation from the UK being defeated by a margin of 10%.

In her victory speech, Ms Sturgeon told supporters the result proved a second independence vote was the “will of the country” and said any Westminster politician who stood in the way was “picking a fight with the democratic wishes of the Scottish people” RTE reported.
