Social media users have been reacting to a 27-yr-old man being sentenced to nine months in prison after pleading guilty to criminal molestation charges for sharing sexually explicit photos of his ex-girlfriend online.
According to RTE, Joseph O’Connor, with an address in Lios an Uisce, Merlin Park, Galway, posted the pictures on an internet forum with links to his ex-girlfriend’s social media profiles, including Facebook and Snapchat.
This resulted in the victim receiving multiple friend requests daily from people he did not know.
O’Connor, who originally from Co Cork, has been charged with non-fatal offenses against the person.
Galway District Court heard the footage was later deleted, but it had been an arduous process.
Given the seriousness of the allegations against her, she said she should face up to nine months in prison.
The verdict was allowed to be appealed because the defendant posted his own bail of €600.
