The date has been set for a mass protest on the 8th of December.
The National Demonstration Against Austerity will be held on the 8th of December 2015 at 2pm in the Garden of Remembrance, Parnell Square and continue from there on an undisclosed route through the city which will be announced coming up to the event.
The event, which has emerged in the past week has been organised by individuals and has garnered much support from many groups opposing water charges, unfair taxes, TTIP, austerity, homelessness and many other topical issues affecting our society. Speaking today, one of the organisers of the event, Joe Rossa, stated that “This protest is about the people, we are showing the Government that we have not gone away”.
This protest will be a peoples protest, which means that it is not being sponsored by or used as a tool to promote any political parties, however parties are being urged to get involved and take part in the protest.
Mr. Rossa went on to say that “I got sick of waiting for the Government to implement changes that they are not going to implement, we need to make a stand and show that we will not stand for broken promises, or a broken Government”.
