Ride-share firm Uber has lost its licence to operate in London with immediate effect.
The controversial company had been under scrutiny for some time, after a number of issues arose.
It is understood that one of the main bones of contention was the fact that unauthorized drivers were able to upload their own pictures to legitimate accounts and pick up fares, which put passengers at risk, according to regulators. This may have happened as many as 14,000 times.
Uber is said to be appealing the decision. Uber cars will still operate while the appeal process is ongoing.
