The Minister for Social Protection Regina Doherty, has claimed that the scheduled nursing strike later this month is not over pay but instead over retention.
Speaking on RTÉ’s This Week in Politics programme, Ms Doherty said that representatives of nursing staff haven’t said they are unhappy with their pay – but instead they are unhappy over the retention of staff.
Ms Doherty’s comments come ahead of scheduled strikes at the end of this month and early February.
However according to RTÉ News the INMO have said that although the issue isn’t caused by a dispute over pay, they have stated that a fair pay solution would resolve the issue as it would help retain nursing staff.
