Controversial right-wing provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos is set to act as Grand Marshall of Boston’s planned Straight Pride march which is scheduled to take place in August.
Yiannopoulos, who is openly gay and married to a man, was selected by the ‘Super Happy Fun America’ organisation which proclaims that it
“advocates on behalf of the straight community in order to build respect, inclusivity, equality, diversity, unity, solidarity, dignity, social mobility, empowerment, sustainability, justice, awareness, intersectionality, human rights, education, access, participation, dialogue, visibility, tolerance, and alliances with people from all walks of life. We encourage everyone to embrace our community’s diverse history, culture, and identity regardless of sexual orientation.”
The outspoken critic of liberalism and feminism was chosen as Grand Marshal of the parade after the group was privately turned down by actor Brad Pitt.
Celebrities and online social justice activists have called for the parade to be stopped however, Mayor of Boston Marty Walsh remind triggered progressives on Twitter that they cannot ban people from exercising their constitutional rights just because they disagree with them.
In a statement on Super Happy Fun America’s website said that the parade was open to anyone who stands in solidarity with the “oppressed” heterosexuals.
The statement read:
“This parade is a gift to anyone, male or female, black or white—gay and transgender allies, too!—who will stand with us and celebrate the wonder and the majesty of God’s own heterosexuality. Men, bring your most toxic selves. Women, prepare to burn your briefcases! Because it’s great to be straight, and we’re not apologizing for it any more. We’re Here, Not Queer”
The event is seen as a rebuke or parody of the LGBTQQIP2SAA pride events that take place across the whole month of June and enjoys overwhelming corporate, political and entertainment industry support.
