Rip-off Ireland is alive and well, as the Central Statistics Office (CSO) revealed that Ireland had the second-highest food prices in the entire eurozone in 2021.
According to the CSO, food items here are, on average, 17% more expensive than in most other eurozone countries.
Also, tobacco is a whopping 145% more expensive than the EU average, while alcohol is just over double.
