Facebook usage in Ireland is on the rise, and it’s not slowing down.

According to Sonya Flynn, Facebook’s managing director here, the company could soon seek to double its workforce, bringing the total staff up to 1,000.

Ms. Flynn was speaking from Facebook’s plush new facility in Dublin’s Grand Canal Square. The brand new building can accommodate up to 1,000 people.

And the company is reportedly looking at even more office space at nearby locations.

According to sources, Facebook’s Irish operations now serve over 30 million businesses across Europe, Africa, and parts of Asia, with about 1.5m of these clients paying for advertising space. 66% of the company’s revenue is now mobile, according to the same sources.

Facebook’s planned expansion is the latest in a number of web-based firms to announce job creation in the Dublin area.

Last month, LinkedIn announced that it could also double its workforce from 600 to 1,200 at its Dublin HQ.
