Road tragedies continue as Gardai confirm a man in his 30s has died following crash

A man in his 30s has lost his life after a crash on the Portarlington Road near Tullamore in County Offaly, reports RTE.

Gardaí are requesting witnesses to come forward following the single-vehicle collision that took place at Ballina Cross, Annaharvey, just before midnight last night.

The man was alone in the vehicle, and no other individuals were injured, reports RTE.

His remains were taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore for a post-mortem.

The R420, between Geashill and the Cloncollig roundabout, is currently shut to allow for a technical investigation, with local traffic diversions in effect, reports RTE.

Gardaí are asking any motorists who may have captured footage (including dash-cam), and who were in the vicinity between 11.40pm and midnight, to share the recordings with them.

Anyone with details is urged to contact Tullamore Garda Station on 057 932 7600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station, reports RTE.
