A 33-yr-old Irish woman has been discovered deceased on a boat docked at a Long Island yacht club in New York, reports RTE.

Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra, who lived in Manhattan, was found unresponsive aboard the vessel at Montauk Yacht Club at midnight local time yesterday by a man.

Emergency responders arrived and declared her dead at the scene, reports RTE.

An initial investigation and examination could not confirm the cause of death, which will now be determined by a post-mortem carried out by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Detectives from the Suffolk County Police Department’s homicide unit are currently handling the investigation, reports RTE.

“We are saddened to learn of the tragic incident that took place. Our team is cooperating with law enforcement in their ongoing investigation and remains committed to the safety and well-being of our guests and staff. We have no further comment at this time,” a Montauk Yacht Club spokesperson said, reports RTE.

Ms Nolan-O’Slatarra, originally from Carlow, moved to the United States at age 24 and went on to build a thriving fashion label named East X East.

She also worked as director of operations at the investment company K4 Capital and ran Duper, a fashion brand sold on Amazon, reports RTE.

She resided in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. In her most recent TikTok video, she was seen celebrating her fashion brand’s beach pop-up in the Hamptons, Long Island.

Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has been informed and is currently offering consular support, reports RTE.

As is standard practice in such cases, the Department is not releasing details publicly.

Fianna Fáil Carlow County Councillor Andrea Dalton expressed she was “deeply saddened” upon learning of Ms Nolan-O’Slatarra’s “untimely” passing, reports RTE.

In a statement given to RTÉ News, she said that even though she didn’t know her personally, she is keeping the family in her thoughts and prayers.

“I know the community of Carlow will rally around Martha’s family at this difficult time,” reports RTE.
