
On his first day in office, Donald Trump will attempt to eliminate fluoride from drinking water, according to Robert F. Kennedy Jr, reports Breaking News.
According to the US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, fluoride strengthens teeth and lowers cavities by replenishing minerals lost during natural wear and tear.
One of the most significant advancements in public health over the past century has long been the introduction of trace amounts of fluoride into drinking water.
Mr. Kennedy, a well-known advocate of disproven public health assertions, posted the statement on the social networking site X along with a number of assertions on fluoride’s negative health impacts.
“On January 20, the Trump White House will advise all US water systems to remove fluoride from public water,” Mr Kennedy wrote, reports Breaking News.
He continued by saying that he and his wife, Melania Trump, “want to Make America Healthy Again,” a term that Trump frequently employs and associates with President Kennedy.

It was unclear at first if Mr. Kennedy spoke with Mr. Trump or his staff about Saturday’s post.
Questions on Saturday night were not answered by either Mr. Trump’s team or a representative for Mr. Kennedy, reports Breaking News.
However, the abrupt and unplanned social media post over the weekend brought back memories of the tumultuous policymaking that characterised Mr. Trump’s time in the White House, when he would broadcast policy announcements on social media at almost any time of day.
It also highlighted the worries that many professionals have about Mr. Kennedy’s influence over US public health, as he has long advocated disproven vaccination safety claims, reports Breaking News.
In order to avoid tooth decay, government officials approved water fluoridation in 1950 and kept pushing it even after fluoride toothpaste brands were available. According to studies, Americans mostly get their fluoride from their drinking water, however there are other sources as well.
In order to combat fluorosis, a dental ailment that can create splotches on teeth and is growing increasingly prevalent in children in the United States, officials reduced their recommended fluoride levels in drinking water in 2015, reports Breaking News.
A government body concluded in August that there is a connection between children’s lower IQ and greater fluoride exposure levels “with moderate confidence.”
Studies investigating fluoride levels at almost twice the recommended limit for drinking water served as the foundation for the National Toxicology Program’s finding, reports Breaking News.
