RSA advice motorists to take extreme care this morning as roads are treacherous

Motorists have been advised to drive with extra care this morning after a very hard frost, ice and snow fell overnight.

Met Eireann and the RSA have advised that black ice will still be on the roads this morning with the AA advising people drive slower than usual after temperatures dropped to -3c with snow having fallen widespread across the country.

From 10pm onward last night, a frost fell, with snow especially on the east coast with temperatures dipping below freezing in many places.

This week will be considerably colder than last week with daytime temperatures only rising to around 6c with nighttime temperatures going before zero.

Temperatures are set to drop to -5c from tomorrow night with Thursday looking like the worst day weather-wise with snow expected.
