RTE, the Irish national broadcaster, has been forced to address what was described as utterly sick, perverse, degrading and anti-Catholic.
What was described as truly tasteless, crude and even sick, RTE was slammed for broadcasting an outrageous clip on New Year’s Eve of God allegedly sexually harassing Our Lady.
RTE received more than 600 complaints over the sick broadcast with the BAI (Broadcasting Authority of Ireland) also receiving many complaints.
Sexual abuse victims denounced the clip citing how serious of subject RTE have mocked that they’ve had to personally endure.
The vast majority of elderly people were sitting at home on New Year’s Eve night, more than likely watching what RTE had produced. These same people have not been able to attend Mass for much of the year, something that’s very dear to them on a personal level.
For RTE to shamefully sneer such strong beliefs has been greeted with widespread condemnation by viewers over its vile and offensive content with even the Archbishop of Armagh Eamon Martin taking to Twitter with the below tweets to voice his outrage.
Calls were made for RTE to issue an apology with many claiming that they haven’t gone far enough by leaving the vile content on their player with a mere warning attached.
1. I am shocked that producer/editor of ‘NYE Countdown Show’ @RTE @RTEOne didn’t realise how deeply offensive was a mocking ‘news report’ accusing God of rape & reporting his imprisonment. This outrageous clip should be removed immediately & denounced by all people of goodwill.

2. To broadcast such a deeply offensive and blasphemous clip about God & Our Blessed Mother Mary during the Christmas season on ‘NYE Countdown Show’ on @RTE, @RTEOne & on Eve of the Solemn Feast of Mary, Mother of God is insulting to all Catholics and Christians. @deeforbes_dee
