RTE Late Late Show host Patrick Kielty preaches about Jimmy Kimmel getting kicked off air

Patrick Kielty, host of RTÉ’s The Late Late Show, has released a video clip expressing his support for former U.S. television host Jimmy Kimmel, reports The Mirror.

Kimmel, aged 57, was indefinitely removed from the airwaves by ABC following comments he made on-air regarding the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

The network acted quickly to suspend Kimmel after Brendan Carr, chair of the U.S. broadcasting regulator, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), warned that action could be taken against ABC and its parent company Disney over the controversial remarks, reports The Mirror.

Kimmel, who has previously presented the Oscars, has fronted Jimmy Kimmel Live since 2003 and is considered one of America’s most recognisable TV hosts.

Although some individuals, including U.S. President Donald Trump and many of his allies, support the decision to suspend Kimmel, others view the move as a violation of free speech and have accused the government of improper intervention, reports The Mirror.

In an effort to show his backing for Kimmel, Patrick Kielty, 54, posted a video on TikTok on Friday.

“Hey Jimmy it’s Patrick Kielty saying a big hello from Studio Four of RTE in Dublin, Ireland, home to The Late, Late Show for more than 60 years. Now, during that time there have been many in power who have wanted our show off air and yet our bosses have never considered shutting us down. Tonight, we are extending the hand of free speech and friendship to let you know that you are always welcome here. So, if you ever need a studio, a desk or an audience, or a band, we are here for you. And most important of all Jimmy, this is Ireland so we can promise that you can say whatever the fk you want,” preached Kielty.
