RTÉ and Screen Ireland have announced eight Storyland projects which will go into development.
According to RTE, three single dramas of 25 minutes duration will be commissioned for production and will broadcast on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player for the first time.
The project includes stories by Rioghnach Ni Ghrioghair, Nessa Wrafter, Sinéad Collopy, Joy Buckle, Eva O’Connor, Simon Delaney, Jonathan Hughes and Hiram Harrington.
Hiram Harrington’s story Goodnight Girl, seeks to “champion diversity and inclusivity” according to University Times. His script is about a group of four transgender friends who go to the funeral of a friend of theirs.
The transgender woman is being buried by her “conservative” family under his original male name, denying his “true identity” as a female.
“It’s kind of a fun take on a heist film, but also an intimate look at queer relationships and how they function” says Harrington.
