RTE to show Easter Sunday Mass from 10am – people are asked to share, particularly with the elderly

RTE One will see Easter Mass broadcast from the Dominican Convent of St Jacques (St James the Great) in Paris and will be translated for Irish priest Fr Thomas McCarthy OP.

Meanwhile other services from Knock and parishes around the country, and indeed the world, will be broadcast live on Youtube and uploaded throughout the day. One of the most famous Easter Mass ceremonies will be broadcast by Bishop Robert Barron from Los Angeles and will be uploaded to his Youtube channel (here) from 8pm Irish time.

Pope Francis will also have a live Easter message which will be broadcast at 11am after Easter Sunday Mass on RTE One.

People are asked to share this information with their friends, in particular their elderly friends, family and neighbours who may need want to but need assistance in participating in Easter Mass.

RTE News reports that they’ll be showing the following:

1000-1100 Easter Sunday Mass. (RTÉ One)

A Eurovision Mass, previously planned for Metz Cathedral, takes place instead in the Dominican Convent of St Jacques (St James the Great) in Paris, due to France’s COVID-related restrictions on indoor gatherings. Translation and commentary are by Fr Thomas McCarthy OP. (RTÉ One & RTÉ Radio 1 Extra)

1100-1120 Urbi et Orbi: (RTÉ One)

Pope Francis’ Easter Message. Pope Francis has cancelled the big public liturgies that usually take place at Easter in the Colisseum, St Peter’s Basilica and St Peter’s Square. However, he will still deliver his usual Easter blessing to the city and the world and a message of prayer and encouragement by video link from within the Vatican. Translation and commentary by Fr Thomas McCarthy OP.
