With record-breaking donations from both domestic and international donors, this year’s RTÉ Toy Show Appeal has raised over €5 million to support kids and their families around the island of Ireland, reports RTE.
“Thanks to your tremendous generosity this year, The Toy Show Appeal has now reached over €5 million,” said Patrick Kielty, presenter of the Late Late Toy Show, in a statement announcing the news. What you have done is unknown to you.
With Christmas quickly approaching, the impact this will have on children and their families around Ireland will be enormous, and we have several programs that will benefit from it. Thank you very much, reports RTE.
Inspired by the national hero Saoirse Ruane’s narrative, the RTÉ Toy Show Appeal was launched in 2020. Although Saoirse tragically passed away in March of this year, the yearly appeal honours her lasting impact.
Every county on the island will benefit from the reaction from viewers of the Late Late Toy Show this year, which will once again assist over a million children, youth, and their families throughout Ireland, reports RTE.
The public made donations using Revolut Pay, the official contribution partner, and www.rte.ie/toy-show-appeal. More than €3.7 million of the €5 million raised was given through Revolut.
RTÉ Director-General Kevin Bakhurst said: “I am so thankful to the many people across Ireland and abroad that have once again given so generously to the RTÉ Toy Show Appeal, allowing us to reach such a milestone. These funds are so important and will provide valuable support, transformative in many cases, to children and their families in every county across the island. The funds raised – over €26 million since we started the RTÉ Toy Show Appeal in 2020 – make a real and positive difference, which is why it remains one of the most important and impactful things that we do in RTÉ. From the bottom of my heart, thank you,” reports RTE.
