Ryanair announces new baggage rules which the company says will expedite boarding

Low-fares airline Ryanair has today announced a new baggage policy, which the company says will expedite boarding.

The new policy, which is part of Ryanair’s ‘Always getting better’ programme, will see the scrapping of the free second cabin bag for all passengers, except those who purchase the ‘Priority Boarding’ extra. Non-priority passengers will still be able to bring small carry-on baggage (such a laptop bag or a camera case) on board. All larger items (10kg)-plus will need to be checked at the check-in desk, free of charge.

Crucially, the checked bag allowance will increase from 15kg to 20kg, and the fee will be lowered from €/£35 to €/£25.

The new rules will come into effect for all bookings after November 1.
