Ryanair is moving to 100% digital boarding passes from November 12th

Ryanair has announced it will switch entirely to digital boarding passes starting November 12th, aiming for a smoother experience for travellers during the quieter post-midterm travel season, reports Breaking News.

From that date, passengers will no longer have the option to print physical paper boarding passes. Instead, they will be required to use the digital pass generated through the “myRyanair” app at check-in in order to board their flight.

This change marks the latest phase in Ryanair’s digital overhaul, building on a number of app-based features and improvements already introduced to benefit its more than 206 million travellers — particularly during flight disruptions, reports Breaking News.

Currently, nearly 80 per cent of Ryanair’s 206 million customers already make use of digital boarding passes.

This move by Ryanair to go fully digital mirrors the approach taken in other ticketing sectors, such as festivals, concerts, and sporting events, where a shift to digital-only access has already proven effective.

Speaking about the announcement, Ryanair chief marketing officer Dara Brady, said: “To ensure a seamless transition to 100 per cent digital boarding passes for our customers, we will make the switch from Wed Nov 12th, which is traditionally a slightly quieter time for travel following the busy mid-term break period,” reports Breaking News.

“Ryanair’s move to 100 per cent digital boarding passes will mean a faster, smarter, and greener travel experience for our customers, streamlined through our best-in-class “myRyanair” app, where passengers will also benefit from helpful in-app features, like Order to Seat and live flight information,” reports Breaking News.
